Do This To Make Social Media Platforms Boost Your Content

Today’s Tip: Using social platform “little brother features” will give your an unfair advantage on social media.

Social media platforms (Instagram, Youtube, TikTok, LinkedIn) have one goal…expand time spent within the kingdom.

Recently, we’ve seen platforms launch secondary features/companion apps to widen their breadth of use cases…I call these little brothers.

  1. Instagram → Launched Threads as a companion app (275M MAUs not so little)

  2. YouTube Launched Community tab as a text based feed

  3. TikTok Launched several things including livestreaming, stories, and rumored to be working on their own text platform

One way to get an unfair advantage on the primary platform is to be a high frequency user on the little brothers.

To be specific, the more you use Threads, the more it appears to boost organic reach on IG Reels. I noticed the same phenomenon with Tiktok (when I tried livestreaming) and YouTube with the Community tab.

From a strategy perspective, this makes sense. Platforms want to incentivize user activity on newer surfaces so they heavily reward those that come early across the entire suite.

If you want to find an unfair way to drive more video views, be early and active on little brother platforms/features.

Hint: I expect LinkedIn & X will follow the same logic so prepared when they launch new things.

Keep crushing!

Btw, if you want another unfair advantage to content, I broke down my full virality formula, the engine behind 1B+ views and a 50% viral hit rate. This was the primary reason I earned 6-figures in my first year as a full-time creator.
